It’s time again to highlight another great venue in the Charlotte area! As Charlotte wedding planners, we love nothing more than sharing these great venues and the people who work at these locations with you, our clients. This week’s spotlight is on The Ivy Place and the many features it has to offer!

Nestled on 33 acres, this historical home is located just south of Charlotte, in Lancaster, South Carolina. The Ivy Place home was built in 1850 and provides a wonderful setting among beautiful, peaceful gardens. The property also includes a 1920s cottage which is the perfect spot for your bridal party to get ready for your big day. To top it all off, they have a stunning tent that features high sides and cathedral windows that offer a panoramic view of the property. There are numerous photo opportunities with old barns, fields, ponds, and gardens to capture your amazing day in a beautiful setting.
Sound pretty amazing? We haven’t even mentioned the amazing event staff of The Ivy Place who settle for nothing less than perfection. We love the staff so much, we thought it would be great to introduce them to you! So we sat down with the owner, Terry Graham who gave us all the details on this great location.
How many weddings do you generally do per year?
We generally do 25-30 weddings per year.
What are some of your favorite “different” things you have seen couples do at their wedding?
We have had a wide variety of weddings from the very elegant to the very rustic, very lavish to very simple and all were beautiful. One of the most unique items was an ice cream truck with really good ice cream instead of wedding cake. Each wedding at The Ivy Place is different—— no two are alike and there are multiple ceremony sites so the bride can truly create her own style of wedding.
What is your favorite part about working in the wedding industry?
We never thought we would be working in the wedding industry. We enjoy meeting people from all over, helping the bride and groom create a special occasion that they will remember. We limit the weddings to one per weekend so we can devote all our attention to that one wedding and make it a perfect day for the couple. Each wedding helps us preserve and maintain our historic house and property. Weddings are fun occasions and we love being part of that.
Best piece of advice to a newly engaged couple?
It is hard to just have one piece! The wedding day should be a fun day, have a good planner, a venue that is special, a good photographer to capture the moment, and most of all enjoy the day as it is the start of your life together.
