How many weddings do you generally do per year?
We offer several different venues that vary in size and aesthetic. On average we host around 50 weddings per year.
What are some of your favorite “different” things you have seen couples do at their wedding?
The first dance as a couple is my absolute FAVORITE part of a wedding. You can tell so much about the couple’s personality and their relationship by the music they select and how they dance. One of my favorite memories is from Sarah and David’s wedding. They started out their first dance with a sweet – and very wedding appropriate – song, but they only danced together for a couple of seconds. The music surprisingly changed to an upbeat alternative song and they invited all of their guests to the dance floor which immediately turned into a mosh pit. Their first dance set the tone for the rest of the evening and the dance floor was full of energy and epic moves. Their first dance was so uniquely them and I loved the way this personalization was felt by every guest.
What is your favorite part about working in the wedding industry?
My favorite part of the industry is 100% the people! An average wedding will involve 10-15 different creative partners to create the overall concept and experience. With the weddings we host on the property, it has opened up the opportunity to collaborate with so many talented vendors that have become great friends of mine!
Best piece of advice to a newly engaged couple?
If I could give one piece of advice, it is to always be on the same team as a couple – this day should truly be about you two! Throughout the planning process, you will have many family and friends share opinions and recommendations and it can be overwhelming to navigate. I would advise having some subtle way to bring it back to the two of you during these sometimes tough group conversations… maybe a hand gesture or an obscure word that can serve as a reset button to bring you both back to re-evaluate what is important.
