Separk Mansion Garden Formal Wedding
Elizabeth and Dennis were married at Separk Mansion on the only day in March that was at least 60 degrees! Elizabeth and Dennis are such an amazing couple and are special to me – they share an intense love of animals/dogs and we have since their wedding had an amazing puppy play date!
Elizabeth and Dennis met at Clemson in college. The story goes that Elizabeth actually told Dennis that she was going to marry him. She knew instantly! Dennis, I think, was a little intimidated but eventually came back to talk to her and the rest is history! Elizabeth is from South Carolina and Dennis is from Boston, so when we started designing for this wedding, we knew we had to show the Bostonians some southern hospitality!
Elizabeth and Dennis were a dream to work with from a design perspective. They always responded positively to their design books while also making decisions along the way. We toured a few venues, and Elizabeth knew right away that Separk was exactly what she had pictured. She loved the historic mansion feel and the elegant chandeliers.
Elizabeth loves flowers and wanted to have a garden theme for her florals. We choose to do a mix of centerpieces showcasing the tall arrangements inside and having the bouquets super lush for outside during the ceremony. We even decided to go big and do a floral hoop backdrop! Melissa nailed it with the greenery all around on the hoop. Elizabeth loved the dusty blue color of her bridesmaid’s dresses and knew she had to incorporate vintage china. She and her mother love vintage items! Evermore provided the vintage china place settings and they complete the entire look in the reception. Everyone was dancing up a storm as soon as the dance floor was open!
Although Elizabeth was a little late with the girls arriving at the venue (she cried all her makeup off and needed it redone!), I had a little bit of time ahead of the bridal party arriving to be able to show off and style their details for the wedding. Elizabeth wanted Krispy Kreme donuts and we managed to get them in heart shapes (not an easy feat!)! This was a way to show off her family’s love of Krispy Kreme to Dennis’s family in Boston. I also brought a few of my own personal vintage items to be able to style the details ?
I think one of the most special elements of Elizabeth and Dennis’s ceremony was that they wrote their own vows and read them to each other. Not only were they the perfect representation of who they each are individually and as a couple, it also gave a little more insight to their guests about their day. They nailed it! They were not too long and they perfectly described themselves and their couple style. Kudos to both of you! ?
We capped off the night with a sparkler exit and a limo ride back into Charlotte for Elizabeth and Dennis. The photos are so beautiful of everything and the day was a dream! Elizabeth and Dennis, I am so thankful to have met you both and for our friendship!
XOXO,
Amanda
