Plan With Me | Wedding Dress Shopping

Finding a wedding dress was one of the things I was nervous about with wedding planning. However, I had an amazing experience and ended up with a dress I absolutely love! It was exactly how I had pictured and I couldn’t have been happier to wear it on my wedding day.

I started thinking about dresses by making a private Pinterest board and adding ones I liked into the board. After I had several, I looked through them to see if there was a theme between the dresses. I was able to narrow it down to a few details. I knew I wanted a-line, flowy, some back showing, and flower details on the skirt. With a picture in mind of what I wanted, I took to searching through wedding dress websites to see if there were places that had what I was dreaming of!

I decided to go wedding dress shopping over Christmas break when I was in California with my family. I took my mom, sister, grandma, aunt, two cousins, and sister-in-law. The more the merrier, right?! I had an appointment at a local bridal shop and also at David’s Bridal. I was skeptical of David’s bridal because I didn’t see much I liked online, but I knew it was a safe option.

For dress shopping, I did my hair and makeup similar to how I plan to wear it on my wedding day. The day of, I was nervous I might not find something I loved, or that everyone would have different opinions. Fortunately, I felt so loved and supported by all the family I had with me, and they knew my taste in dresses! My cousin pulled one dress off the rack and we all stopped and stared at it…everyone knew that was the dress.

I tried it on and I fell in love with it! It was comfortable, a-line, flowy, some back showing, with flower details on the skirt. I even found a headpiece to go with it that I loved! When i decided on the dress, everyone in my family had tears of joy. It was a really surreal moment realizing I was buying a wedding dress to get married in. I am still in shock now!

A wedding dress is something that I think every girl thinks about from the time they are playing dress-up to when they walk down the aisle. We all want to feel beautiful and special. My tip for future brides is to not feel any pressure when finding your dress! For some, it only takes one. For others, it might take several dresses in several different shops on several different days. But that is okay! You should have a dress that you love and feel amazing in.

Thank you so much for following along on my planning journey.  Be sure to check out the other parts of the series including, picking a venue, picking a caterer, and of course design inspiration.

Happy dress shopping!
