When I got engaged, so many of my friends and family said, “oh, you must have your whole wedding planned already!” While I spend a lot of time thinking about and planning others weddings, I had waited to put too much thought into my own before I got engaged. I didn’t even have a future wedding Pinterest board!
I wanted the design inspiration of my wedding to be something me and David could dream about together. We both really love design and thinking about the aesthetic of an environment. After we knew what the venue would be, we sat down and dreamed together. We wrote out what our perfect wedding day would look like, if there weren’t any limitations on what was possible. This dream document has been something we’ve referenced back to many times. We wanted to make sure we had a vision for what we wanted our day to be like, so that as we planned, we could always come back to what we really wanted and dreamed of.
Our overall dream for our wedding day is that there would be purpose to everything we chose to do. We didn’t want to do specific things because “that’s what you’re supposed to do at a wedding”. We wanted everything to be purposeful and intentional.
Colors
Our color scheme is sage green, gray, white, and accents of gold. Both of our favorite colors is green and we thought it would blend into our natural environment! Gray is a very classic, soothing color and gold adds a little bit of a pop. I love this combination because it feels light and summery and will look beautiful with the mountains in the background.
Flowers
I am so excited about our wedding flowers! My favorite flower is a white rose and I am obsessed with eucalyptus. My family is from California and my grandma’s house is surrounded by eucalyptus trees. The smell of eucalyptus reminds me of summers in California with my family! Our bouquets will be simple with white roses and eucalyptus for greenery. My Fiance, David, has always made me the most beautiful bouquets since we have been together. He has even went wildflower picking to find the perfect flowers! He will be putting together my bouquet for the wedding day. I love the personal touches we were able to add for our flowers!
Decorations
Our decorations will be kept pretty simple because the venue really decorates itself with natural beauty! We will have an arch for our ceremony, but the rest will be God’s beautiful landscape. I will reuse my bridesmaids bouquets for the table centerpieces, and we will have some candles for romantic lighting as well.
I have loved bringing together special pieces of David and I and implementing them into the design of our wedding. My tip for brides is to think through ways you can add your own personal touches to your wedding day! I love seeing pets incorporated, favorite foods, or his and her drinks. Traditions are great, but there is so much room to make the day reflect you and your future spouse!
Best Wishes!
