Consider Your Guests

Depending on the time of year, there are several small things you can do to make your guests comfortable. Think about the weather possibilities. July wedding?-consider printing your programs on a fan or having a water table at the back of the ceremony. Chilly October wedding?-portable heaters or lap blankets are a great option to have around the seated areas. These details may be small, but making sure your guests are comfortable is a worthwhile effort!

Have a Backup Plan

Rain, rain go away, don’t be here on my wedding day! There aren’t any tips on how to stop the rain, but there are a few considerations to help prepare for the worst. The ideal outdoor venue has a rain backup location. For a light or moderate rain, a reception tent can do the trick– just make sure the tent can stand up with gusty winds and has sturdy sides.

Don’t Forget About Sound!

Just as much as you want your guests to hear what you’re saying, they want to hear you too. Renting a sound system and having clip mics for the officiant, bride, and groom is extremely helpful for this issue, especially if you are outside where it will be windy. Your DJ or band may even be able to help with this!

Decorations

If you’ve chosen to have your wedding outdoors, you have probably already had the opportunity to take in all of the natural beauty around you. Don’t lose this wonder when you’re planning decorations! Less is more when you are able to be outside. Think about simple touches to add to the scene. Consider having simple flowers, greenery, an arch or other backdrop, or string lights to make the venue unique to your wedding.
