Nathalie and Nick were married at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with a reception at the Mint Museum Uptown in Charlotte, North Carolina, with a beautiful fall wedding. Nathalie and Nick are amazing. They are such a perfect pair and have so much fun together. They met in college at Western University. Nick proposed on a hot air balloon. They are both originally from Charlotte, so they had a big guest list!
Nathalie and Nick wanted a wedding that was memorable, fun, and pretty. And yes, Nick had lots of opinions! They envisioned elegant and simple for the style and rose gold, wine, and black and white for the colors. Nathalie, Nick, and I had so much fun working on their design! We started with the wine color and the bridesmaids’ dresses and kept the linens clean. We also used a mix of tables from the Mint to help break up the room. The layout was perfect! Even the catering staff commented on how easy it was for them to move around (and for reference, this is for 175 people).
The night was so smooth and everyone had a great time! The guests handled the Catholic ceremony gap well 😊 Cocktail hour was outside on the terrace and it was a perfect 75 degrees and sunny! We had perfect weather, for a perfect day, for a perfect couple. Nathalie and Nick had a first dance that included a lift – my favorite! Nathalie and her Dad even came up with something fun for their dance too!
The most memorable thing to me from their wedding, besides learning about Nathalie’s rebellious teenage stage and Nick’s competition with his brothers on height and now hairline, was Nick’s speech thanking everyone. He thanked all the vendors and Nathalie’s family and their friends, but then he thanked his parents and told a very moving story about the sacrifices they made. It was about him teasing his Mom at Christmas wrapping up some old shoes. This was her gift to herself, she and his Dad literally gave everything to their 3 boys. Y’all know I don’t cry at weddings (unless something is really wrong!) but I even got teary-eyed at this sweet sentiment and the fact that Nick recognized it and appreciated it all these years later. If he pays attention to that, then I know Nathalie will have an amazing life!
Nathalie and Nick, I absolutely loved working with you both and miss you already! I wish you all the best in the world!
