Magnificent Moments Weddings

Holiday Inn Center City | Uptown Charlotte Wedding

Bride and groom pose in front of urban art on the streets up Uptown Charlotte

Jennifer and Eli’s October brunch uptown Charlotte wedding proves that different can be amazing. The couple who met in high school chose to mix things up and host a brunch affair that did not disappoint.  Guests were welcomed into their traditional Jewish ceremony and celebrated the marriage of the couple with great food, great toasts, and great dancing.

The ceremony and reception were both set at the Holiday Inn City Center on October 8, 2017, in uptown Charlotte. The couples’ guests arrived in the early afternoon and were greeted with a sprawling brunch buffet and cocktails.  After the meal, Jennifer and Eli were married under a stunning chuppah in a traditional Jewish ceremony.  This was my first Jewish ceremony to witness and I was blown away by the love of the couple that showed through these time-honored traditions.  The most touching part of the ceremony had to be the process of signing the Ketubah, which is the Jewish certificate of marriage.  This was a very intimate moment that allowed the couple’s parents to share in the love.  The actual signing happens before the ceremony that the guests watched, but Jen hands the marriage contract, if she wants to, to Eli to be officially married.  Since this is an ancient tradition, it is actually nice to see a tradition that involves women’s rights.  The ceremony ended with the Breaking of the Glass that symbolizes the absolute finality of the marital covenant.

Following the ceremony, honorary guests were invited to share toasts and words of advice to the couple. There were so many touching speeches that showed not only the love between the couple but the love of the guests there to share in their special day.  The reception, of course, included dancing; this couple did not let the time of day affect the fun!  One great moment was the dancing of the horah, which got everyone to the dance floor.

The spectacular event ended with a private last dance.  Jennifer and Eli embraced in a romantic dance after all their guests had gone.  It was so touching to see them swaying to the music, surrounded by the remains of their big day, getting ready to spend the rest of their lives together.

Wishing you many years of happiness Jennifer and Eli!
