Real Charlotte Wedding at Founder’s Hall

As a wedding planner in Charlotte, NC, I get so excited when I get to learn about couples in other areas of the country’s traditions at weddings!

Kendall and Patrick met after a Checker’s Game, which is a minor league hockey team, here in Charlotte.  She is from Connecticut and he is from Texas and they both moved here and me – true fate!  Kendall’s Mom actually found me and we clicked right away.  She even ended up moving from Connecticut to South Carolina only 20 min from where I live 🙂

I think their engagement story is amazing!  Here it is told from Kendall’s perspective: Pat told Kendall we were going to a Monday night Hornets game and to be ready around 6:30.  We started walking there and he asked if I wanted to go into the bar for a quick drink.  I said NO! I was hungry and wanted to go to the game.  Well the bar he wanted to grab a  drink in, happened to be the bar we met in (and had not been back to since).  Anyway, he walked up the stairs to an empty bar, with the bartender there and only one other person.  We ordered a drink and he said “DO you really want to know why we are here?”  I said of course! He brought me over to a little table covered with rose petals and photos of us,t hat happened to be located in the EXACT spot that we met.  I thought he had the wrong date of our 2 year dating anniversary. Anyways, he started talking and then was down on one knee! Of course I said YES ! and then he had a table and bottle of champagne ready for us at a local steak house!

Kendall wanted to keep her colors very classic and elegant.  They also happen to go very well with her venue, Founder’s Hall.  She wanted florals in a pale palette with a few succulents for added texture and they were gorgeous.  She also wanted to surprise Patrick with a groom’s cake – and Sarah from Sweet Scene did not disappoint!  Patrick had no idea, even when Sarah showed up and he was taking pictures, we managed to hide the delivery of the cake from him.  His cake was a reflection of the pieces of who he is, from Texas to their dog, Patrick’s groom’s cake was a perfect representation of him.  Kendall completely surprised him when she brought him over to see the cake!  I know he will never forget that.

Patrick’s father was their pastor, making their wedding day all the more meaningful.  He married them here in North Carolina and they will always remember him presiding over their wedding.  There was a giant dance party on the floor afterward, as Patrick has a reputation at weddings of always getting in the center of the circle and dancing!  The band even incorporated Spice Girls, per Kendall’s prior request and everyone had a blast.

Kendall and Patrick, I hope you enjoy your new home!

XOXO,

Amanda
