Allison and Nasser decided to get married at the Foundation for the Carolinas in uptown Charlotte and had a beautiful and fun wedding! Allison and Nasser live in D.C., kind of. Nasser is studying abroad in Scotland to be a professor, while Allison is teaching in D.C. Nasser even wore a traditional Scottish kilt and full outfit for the rehearsal and to the rehearsal dinner. I loved it because I am actually Scottish myself! Nasser’s father has passed away, so during the ceremony, he lit a candle up at the front as a reminder to him. Allison and Nasser decided not to have any bridesmaids or groomsmen, or brides-men or grooms-ladies, and I loved it! It really made the ceremony all about them.
Allison (and by extension Nasser!) LOVE cats. Like a lot. They took lots of photos with the cat photos downstairs in the museum exhibits. Allison wanted bud vase centerpieces with lots of colorful flowers and collected all of the glass and cat figures by searching vintage shops. She even borrowed a few from family friends! The centerpieces were exactly what she wanted and I love that! (Even if I am a dog person ?) She had watercolor elements throughout her paper products, with watercolor table numbers and gorgeous floral watercolor welcome sign and table chart.
Best Impressions had an ice cream bar after the cake cutting and it was fantastic! Ice cream is my favorite and apparently many of their guests’ too! Split Second Sound had everyone on the dance floor the whole night. And although it rained, the sky cleared up later in the evening and we opened the glass doors so guests could enjoy the terrace. The living wall for cocktail hour was also a huge hit!
My amazing wedding planner friend, Stephanie Scholl, is the one who introduced me to Allison. She and Stephanie are friends from college and it was so nice to see her as a guest at the wedding. Stephanie – thank you!
Allison and Nasser, I hope you have the best time in everything you do!
XOXO,
Amanda
