Lorraine and Michael were married at the Charlotte City Club in Uptown Charlotte. The wedding was a classy affair to show off the South to all of Michael and Lorraine’s friends and college classmates from West Point!
Michael and Lorraine have an interesting love story. They met in college at West Point when Michael was picking on Lorraine’s then-boyfriend. She was not impressed. They led separate lives, married, had children, lived in different places, etc. Then, Michael decided to run for an office and put out a billboard. Lorraine saw it and the rest is history! They started dating (both had been divorced for a while by then) and they were just giddy in love!
Lorraine lives in Charlotte and wanted to show off her southern roots, especially since they had so many college friends from West Point (in New York) that would be attending their wedding. It was like a mini-college reunion! They had the best time and their friends and family are just plain amazing.
We started planning because Lorraine had actually never had a wedding before and didn’t know where to start. We hit it off right from the beginning! We both have a no-nonsense type of attitude and the engineering backgrounds we both have, she is an NP now, complimented our personalities very well. When they say pick your people off of the best fit, it really is true!
Michael turned out to be the picky one! Lorraine wanted a beautiful wedding in a chapel and lots of dancing at the reception. She loves to dance and has taken many, many classes, and I think even performed at one point in her life. Michael wanted the Charlotte City Club, and we were originally going to have the ceremony there as well, and I could tell Lorraine just wasn’t loving that idea. So off to the Belk Chapel we went and it was perfect! She was not a picky bride after we got the chapel secured, and Michael was very picky about the invitations, but they were a dream to work with! They secured the NASCAR Hall of Fame for their Welcome Party on Saturday night, and their friends and family were still talking about it at the wedding! They are just surrounded by the best people and really take into perspective what the weekend was about, celebrating their love with those closest to them.
Michael and Lorraine, I am so happy for you both! You are the best friends and family and I hope one day to have so many caring people in my life as you have in yours.
XOXO,
Amanda
