About Me - Brittni | Charlotte Wedding Planner

Hi! My name is Brittni and I’m a Wedding Planner in Charlotte at Magnificent Moments Weddings!

Whether you have known me for a few minutes or years, you know these are a few of my favorite things: Miloh (my fur child), Pittsburgh Steelers, my family and trying new fashion and makeup trends, especially Kylie Jenner and her branded products. I can’t get enough of her lip kits and I am shameless about it.

From a Tennessee girl to South Carolina woman, I never imagined making the move in 2009 would change my life in so many incredible ways. During my formative years, the majority of my education was geared towards early childhood education with the hopes of becoming a teacher one day. My path continued towards this dream with professional experiences in daycares, internships and local school systems when I began to realize it wasn’t my path to follow at all. However, I have serious props for teachers because that’s a tough job! Although I worked as a nanny for a family for about 5 years, and they quickly became family, I am happy to lead a completely different path in wedding planning!

In 2016, Magnificent Moments Weddings was growing and thriving with the need for more hands on deck. Amanda happened to be a neighbor of my father and the connection was made.  I took a leap into an unfamiliar industry and I couldn’t be happier to have been chosen for such a driven and creative team. With no background in the industry, my drive to immerse myself into it was at a high. I realized quickly that this was my path and I love being a part of something bigger than myself. From the progression of meetings to bounce around ideas to the wedding day, the final product is what I live for.

All the best,

Brittni

  • My older sister has Cerebral Palsy -- she has taught me to appreciate the small things in life!

About Me - Shelby | Wedding Planner Charlotte

Allow me to introduce myself,

I was born into a military family, which I fully blame for my obnoxious punctuality. My dad served 20+ years in the United States Coast Guard and as a result, we moved quite a bit growing up.  As a child, I lived in Tennessee, Alaska, Oregon, Virginia, and North Carolina (where we finally settled).  I went to high school in a very small town where the only thing to look forward to is walking around Walmart and parking on the cool side at the local Sonic Drive-in.

I abandoned small town life to attend East Carolina University where I majored in History Education (why you ask? I am still not sure myself!). While at school I meet my amazing husband Daniel and we married in 2011. I then enrolled in Graduate School for my MAEd (again you ask why? The only answer I can think of is because I am a glutton for punishment why else?)  We welcomed our wonderful son Nolan in 2012, I can’t believe he will be turning five this year.  He truly is the best thing to have ever happened to me.

A job opportunity for my husband led our family to the outskirts of Charlotte in 2014.  After living in Charlotte for a few years I was able to reconnect with Amanda, who is a fellow survivor of our small town. I have since been working hard at learning everything I can about wedding planning and coordination and recently became a Certified Wedding Planner with the Bridal Society.

Have you heard the old adage “Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life?”, Well, I think it's safe to say it took me a while but I have really found that with Magnificent Moments Weddings.

Fun Facts -

  • I am a true military brat and have lived in 5 states.

  • I was born in Shelby County Tennesee which is where I got my name.

  • I love boy bands but my absolute favorite is N*Sync :)

5 Great Groomsmen Gifts | Wedding Planner Charlotte

Great Groomsmen Gift Ideas

While most groomsmen will love any gift you give them, sometimes it is nice to find out of the ordinary gifts.  Most wedding websites with shops for wedding party gifts include beer mugs, pocket watches, and ties (for them to wear in the wedding) as gifts.  This list is for a few different options but still, guy approved gifts. :)

1. Bottle Breacher

“The Bottle Breacher is a hand crafted 50 Caliber Bottle Opener made by military veterans in the USA.  These bullets were used in military operations and now they have a second life.  And who doesn’t love and need a bottle opener!”

This would be a great conversation piece to have in your household as well.

My husband was given one of these from being in his friend Taylor’s wedding and I just think this is the best gift.  These were also on SharkTank!

2. Leather Koozie

(This is a leather koozie I found at a local store in Asheville, NC)

I found the wolf leather koozie in a local artists shop in Asheville, NC (if I could find the artist online I would link it).

3. Engraved Hammer

Most guys in general love tools, and I’m sure your groomsmen love them also.  Why not get them a hammer with their name on it to be able to use anytime they have a project.  This way it will be harder for them to lose it!

4. Etched Decanter

Flasks and liquor are very common to give as gifts, but you know they will use both of these day of!  A decanter allows them to keep the liquor under wraps until after the ceremony and then have a stylish way to display their drink of choice at home.

5.       Beer Growler

For the beer lovers, a growler (for even more beer) or a stein would be a great addition to their collection of traditional mugs.  These are something most guys do not buy for themselves but would be welcomed as a gift!

Of course, the best gifts to give are ones that are personal.  If you and your guys are into a TV show (Game of Thrones), then gifts related to that would be a real hit.  If you and your guys are into hiking, then something hiking related would be great.

What other groomsmen gifts have you received that you loved?

XOXO,

Amanda

About Me - Amanda | Wedding Planner Charlotte

Hi!!

I’m Amanda!  I am the owner of Magnificent Moments Weddings – Welcome!

I was born in Morgantown, West Virginia.  Yeah, yeah, yeah, I’m sure I have heard all of the jokes :)  My Dad even mentioned in his speech at my wedding that I have all my teeth!  My parents were there while my Dad was in residency and moved to small-town Elizabeth City, NC as soon as he was done when I was 3 years old.  I grew up in Elizabeth City and looking back now, I could not be prouder to have come from a small town.  It is where I met my husband, we are high school sweethearts.  My parents do not live there anymore, but my in-laws do.

I went to NC State University to study Civil Engineering.  I graduated college and went on to attend East Carolina University to earn an MBA, while I was working.  My work took me from my Raleigh office to Miami, Florida for a year and then my husband’s job took us to Chicago for a year right after.  Two small town kids living in the big city!  It was a very different world, but I like to think I am adaptable.  We moved to Charlotte very shortly after Chicago (there was a brief stint to sell our house in Raleigh) and we love calling Fort Mill home.  It has that small town feel we grew up with, but the big city amenities we always wanted.

I started MMW in June of 2015, a few months after we moved to Charlotte.  I actually wrote a business plan for a wedding planning business in 2010 after I graduated college and found it again when we moved.  My husband was also in a wedding that summer and I went to the rehearsal and really thought about being serious about becoming a wedding planner.  I have to be honest though, entrepreneurship was not something I ever saw myself doing.  I’m a safety girl – hence the very practical engineering degree 😊  But I could not be happier planning weddings and I am so glad to have clients who have believed in and trusted me throughout this process.

Fun facts

  • I was born in West Virginia, but was raised near the OBX.
  • I LOVE to travel - I even studied abroad in China!
  • I am a dog obsessed pommy mommy and golden retriever-border collie mix mom and I love my shelter dogs so much!

XOXO,

Amanda

French Blue Inspired Shoot | Wedding Planner Charlotte

French Blue Inspired Shoot | Wedding Planner Charlotte

Stefanie Morris from Charlotte Wedding Collective gave me the opportunity to design this styled shoot for her and I’m so proud to have been a part of it. I absolutely love the color blue.  We haven’t seen the French blue (some call it stormy blue) too much in weddings yet, although I think it will be a feature color soon!  I knew I wanted to focus on blues, but specifically the French Blue, with pops of gold and blush pink throughout. April and Phyllis with Evermore- Classic and Vintage Rentals have so many beautiful pieces, I knew they had to be a part of this shoot! We teamed up to style the table scape with many pieces from their China collection and blue Depression glass goblets. The gold chargers were the perfect addition to tie all the different plates together.

I wanted to have a vintage theme but also create modern feel, so Ines with Sky’s The Limit Bridal Sweets created a beautiful watercolor cake to bring some modern style into the mix. She used blue and pink throughout the cake, with gold leaf for a classic addition to a modern trend. Kathy from Ocean and Coral Creative made a beautiful invitation suite, being both classic and contemporary.

The venue, Southern Charm Events, is new to Rock Hill, and the owner, Danita, really created such a beautiful space to have the best day of your life. She used her interior design background to create an enchanting venue full of natural light. The models, Dana (bride) and Jacob (groom), really connected to create chemistry that you can see throughout each photo, Jacob had the idea to wear his dress blues to add to the blue theme—plus, who doesn’t love a guy in uniform! I’m so grateful for everyone that helped make this shoot possible!

All the best,

Brittni
