About Us | Why We Do What We Do – Amanda and Brittni

Magnificent Moment Events 99

Wedding planning and coordination are not career paths for the faint of heart.  Long nights, countless meetings, and extended email sessions are all parts of the job.   But it also has AMAZING rewards.  We get to help our brides with on the most special days of their lives and help them make lasting memories.  Since each one of us in the Magnificent Moments Team has a different reason for why we do what we do,  I thought it would be fun to share our personal stories.  Not only so you can get to know us a little better, but to see why we love our jobs and most importantly enjoy our jobs.   This month Amanda and Brittni share exactly why they choose to be wedding planners.

So many people have asked me why wedding planning? I always say to them, that I’ve always been a planner, much to my poor husband’s annoyance. I will plan everything if I get a chance.  I love planning and I even enjoy the execution of a well-laid-out plan ?

I got into planning because I love weddings. I love love. I’ve always loved love. I’m that girl who loves Valentine’s Day, even though it is super commercial. So weddings felt like a natural fit. But more importantly, I am a wedding planner because I like helping people. A wedding day only happens once in your life. I truly love to help people in any capacity, and weddings are a way for me to do this.

Now, they can be really stressful. I have to do a lot of problem-solving on my feet. Weddings are not easy. Most people would not want to be wedding planners, because of the stress. A wedding is one day. You don’t get a do-over. You can’t come back and fixed it after somebody does something. You get one shot.  The stress of the knowledge of that is one thing, but the stress on the day can be another! We try so hard to have everything done ahead of time. I look at this way, we know something is going to come up – we just don’t know what. Decision fatigue is a real thing. So, if we can do as much preparation ahead of time and only have to deal with 3-5 decisions and problem-solving sessions on the wedding day, instead of 20 that we could have handled ahead of time, then we have done our best!

This can’t be stressful for me too. I just think that weddings are just so important to me, that I just deal with the stress. You have the stress of expectations from brides and grooms, their families, and other vendors. And honestly, I’m just trying to do my best.

I still love weddings, even after doing 65 weddings as of August 13! I still love what I do. I love getting to help people. And I hope that I can help you too.

I always wanted to be a teacher growing up, but after interning in a classroom, I quickly realized that is not the career for me — but what I realized is that I love helping people and seeing their plans come to life. Being a wedding planner, I am able to take someone else’s dreams and ideas and help to make it a success.

Throughout the planning process and the meetings we have, I get to know their expectations and I really enjoy bringing that to their wedding day. Everyone’s dream is to have the perfect wedding day that is set up exactly how they want, but still getting to be stress-free and fully enjoying the day—that’s what I enjoy giving to people.
