Here at Magnificent Moments Weddings, we are suckers for a good love story! One of the first questions we often ask our clients is, “How did he propose?”. Proposals are such a major part of a love story and we love reliving every small detail with our brides! So we are so excited to announce that we have our very own love story unfolding right now! Our newest wedding coordinator Joelle recently got engaged to her fiance David. So I thought it would fun to share their engagement story with you our brides! Below is how her special day unfolded!

On November 2nd, my boyfriend, David, asked me to marry him! The whole day was really special and I had no idea he was proposing until the words, “if you’ll marry me” left his mouth. On Friday morning, we went to Crossfit together and then got smoothies at Clean Juice. Afterward, we went and painted pottery that we had made together on our first date. The painting took us three hours (which I found out later made the proposal timeline a little harder to work with!).
David had told me we would get manicures together every other week until we got engaged. I was thinking I had at least two or three manicures coming this Fall! So he took me to get my nails done and then we packed our bags to drive to Boone for the weekend. My family lives in Boone and we were going to visit them for a few days.
On our way to Boone, we stopped at one of our favorite spots on Lake Norman. David told me he wanted to take a little time to relax before we spent the weekend with family. I was happy to sit by the lake and look at the pretty fall trees! When we got there, we sat at a picnic table under the oak trees and he brought out his guitar to play some songs.
It isn’t unusual for David to serenade me with his guitar, but I was still oblivious at this point!
He played a few songs and then told me he had a new one he wanted to try out. He started singing a song narrating our story together. When he began the chorus, my stomach dropped when he sang…
“It’s the beginning of love
It’s the beginning of our story
And I don’t know just how it will end
But if you say, say you’ll marry me
You and me, baby we will see”
Then he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! Of course, I said yes!
We made our way to Boone to see my parents and I was absolutely ecstatic to see them. When I walked in the door, I saw my entire family in the living room. He had flown in all of my family members, which was a huge surprise because we only get together every couple of years. My brother is in the Air Force and came from New Mexico, my sister is from California, and my brother and his wife and kids came in from California. His parents came from Charlotte too!
We had champagne toasts and appetizers together and it was the perfect end to a perfect day.
David and I have been dating for a year and we have known each other for 3.5 years. It feels like a dream I get to marry him and become Mrs. David Parks. I am so thankful God has brought us together and given us the opportunity to live the rest of our lives honoring Him and growing in our love for one another.
